

James Pratt, Jr. was born to the late James 'Son' and Gussie Pratt on September 7, 1928 in Morven, North Carolina. He was a member of Friendship Baptist church and was baptized at the age of 70. James graduated from Morven McCrae High School in Morven, North Carolina and attended college for 2 years. He met Ruby Linney in Charlotte, North Carolina and they were married on March 21, 1959. James departed this life on January 16, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
Known as Jim to his friends, he served 23 years in the US Army and retired in 1974. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling and spending time with his family. James was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church Men's Choir and a lifetime member of the Retired Enlisted Association.
James was pre-deceased by his wife of 55 years, Ruby Linney Pratt; brothers Henry, Zenopha, and Pruitt; sisters Sarah Brayboy, Effie Pegues and Brinnia Townsend.
James is survived by his children Jacqueline King, Reginald Pratt both of Colorado Springs and Pamela Trent of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren Jerome Pratt, Renaldo Jenkins, Monique King and Micheal King; great-grandchildren Micheal King, Jr., Saniyah King, and Jazzmine'Rain Pratt; sisters Mildred Jackson, Clara Gatewood, Lessie Clark and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church / 633 E. Dale Street / Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am at the church. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
