Jean was born on November 14, 1933 in Hemet, CA to Samuel and Jenny Mae Johnson. She was the youngest of six children. In 1952, she attended the University of Southern California where she met her dear husband, Douglas G. Dumont. After a short romance, they eloped in Las Vegas in December 1953 and started their lives together. Douglas's military service moved them across the US and Canada while raising their three children, Cynthia, Lynn, and Douglas (Fr. Photios).
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, parents, siblings, and son in law, Robert J. Clark. She is survived by her three children, Cynthia (Robert) Clark, Lynn (Roy) Bloomfield and Fr. Photios (Katherine) Dumont; eight grandchildren, Jeanette Clark, Carrie (Chayse) Pauser, Blake (Kristin) Bloomfield, Lauren (Jeff) Gordon, Anysia (Nick) Metrakos, John (Arianna) Dumont, Athan (Demetra) Dumont, and Joseph Dumont; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Jean spent over 20 years following her passion of home decorating working in sales as a custom home decorating professional and then another 10 years as a stylist for a specialty clothing boutique.
She was a deeply spiritual person her entire life and ultimately found her home in the Greek Orthodox Church. After attending St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Roseville, CA, for several years, she was baptized on August 16, 2019. She was given the name “Maria” as her baptismal name, with the Virgin Mary being her patron saint. After her move to Colorado, she began attending St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village, CO.
Those who knew Jean will remember her as a kind, spunky, fun loving soul. She always had a good time and was often the life of the party. She loved all God's creations especially her beloved pets. She nurtured all life around her and spoke sweetly to her flowers and house plants while watering them daily. More than anything, Jean loved her family. We will dearly miss our "Jean the Queen", "Momma Roo", and "Ever-loving Grammy". We're so thankful for the long life she lived and the endless memories she left us to cherish.
Funeral services will be held on the May 2, 2025, at 10 am at St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
