Joanne Carol Sanders

Born in Racine, Wisconsin on March 15, 1935 Joanne moved to Colorado Springs in 1983 with her three boys and settled to become a long term resident. On December 17, 2017, the Lord took her home. She is survived by her sons Chris, Kirk and Greg Sanders, her siblings Warren MacKnight, Joyce Shaughnessy, Pamela MacKnight and Debi Brill along with three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Joanne was an incredibly strong, humble and caring woman. Many would describe her as a “tiny little lady with a big heart”. She was always smiling and had a quick wit. Joanne would have a straight face and a twinkle in her eye when she would snap a quick one line joke. A few of her favorite past times were to be around babies, whether they were related or not, going dancing and sitting around talking and laughing with family.

One of her biggest accomplishments was putting herself through college while working three jobs and raising her youngest son Greg. She retired from FedEx after working a number of years there. Joanne would say her greatest accomplishments of all, though, is raising her family.

She will be missed by all the lives that she touched and all those she showed unconditional love to.
