

Logan Ross Dicus, 35, passed away on June 19, 2022. Logan was born on January 16, 1987 in Austin, Texas. Logan is the oldest of four children born to Monica Lyn Dicus and Scott Dicus. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Mount Mercy College where he also played baseball. He is married to Rebecca Dicus, who he met his last semester of college. Together, they have two boys and one girl, Lane Brett, 5, Colter Lance, 3, and Addison Jo. Prior to his enlistment into the United States Army, Logan worked as a corrections officer and a claims adjuster.
Logan enlisted in the United States Army in April of 2018 and graduated OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood that August. After OSUT graduation Logan was assigned to the 87th Sapper Company at Fort Hood, Texas until February of 2021. Logan was then assigned to A Co, 1 Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas. In July of 2021 Logan went on rotation with his company to Europe where he spent time in Poland, Germany, Romania and Bulgaria until his death in Sliven, Bulgaria on June 19, 2022.
Logan was a loving friend to so many. Logan was known for his witty sense of humor, telling it like it is and his kind heart. Friends became family very quickly with Logan. Logan was passionate about the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, grill/smoke meat and be at the beach. Logan’s free time was always filled with family, friends, the outdoors and many laughs. Logan holds a special place with so many people and his loss is deeply felt.
Logan was proud of graduating college and extremely proud to serve his country, but Logan’s deepest pride and joy was his children. He often referred to them as his greatest accomplishments. Logan would go to the ends of the earth to take care of his children and made sure they always knew how much he loved them.
Logan is survived by his wife, Rebecca Dicus, his children, Lane and Colter, his mother, Monica Dicus, his grandfather, Wayne Cleveland, his siblings Lance (Kristine) Dicus, Lynzi (Eric) Crippen, and Lexis Dicus, his father-in-law, Jeff Smith, his mother-in-law, Carmen Smith, his sister-in-law, Katie Smith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Logan is preceded in death by his baby girl, Addison Jo, his father, Scott Dicus, his brother-in-law, Brett Smith, his grandparents, Barbara “Grammy” Burke, Stephen “Grampy” Burke, Monique “Meme” Woodward, and Janie “Grams” Cleveland, and his beloved dog, Girlie.
