On May 31, 2025, Margaret Elizabeth Shaver left this earthly life to be in her eternal home with her Lord and Savior. She was born on October 16th, 1925 in Fountain Colorado. In 1945 she married Buck Shaver and they shared 64 loving years together until his passing on April 24, 2009. Margaret is survived by her two sons, Robert Shaver (wife Cynthia) and Weldon Shaver (wife Dee) and a niece, Vickie Smith (husband Gaylord). She has three nephews Brett Rice (wife Nancy), Kris Rice and Troy Rice. Margaret has four grandchildren: Darlene Shaver and Jason Shaver, Kristi Kesey and Alexis Shaver. She also has two great grandchildren, Wyatt Shaver and Miles Shaver.
As a girl Margaret lived on a farm and attended school in Fountain. Her family moved to Falcon during high school where she met Buck and was married shortly after high school. She worked many jobs over the years but is most remembered for being “Everyone’s Grandma.” After Margaret retired, she took care of Darlene and Jason and would pick them up at school and “spoil them” until their parents picked them up after work. She also watched the children of friends and gave them her love and attention which she never seemed to run out of. Matt, Jake, Katie Lynn and Troy were all very special to her. Later she watched her last granddaughter, Alexis, and was a consistent source of love in her life.
Margaret was a very talented seamstress and she taught her daughter in law and granddaughters how to sew, knit and crochet. She also became a very accomplished quilter making several quilts with her daughter in law Dee and her granddaughter Darlene. She was very patient and together they made some beautiful quilts that hold many good memories of “sewing with Grandma in the sewing room.”
Buck and Margaret were active members in the Vintage Motor Car Club of America (VMCCA) which they joined in the late 1970’s. Buck was a talented mechanic and “car guy” who restored several vintage cars of his own, as well as working on other club members vehicles. They took several trips and tours with their grandchildren, Darlene, Jason and Alexis and made many special memories together. They were so proud of all of their grandchildren and the family was very blessed they could spend time with them for so many years.
Margaret was a loving wife to Buck and has missed him so much these past 16 years. The family has been comforted with the promise that Buck and Margaret are together again for eternity. Praise God for his promises and his steadfast love for them.
