Mark Rusinko, 72, of Newark, Delaware, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2026, from sudden cardiac arrest while visiting family in Colorado. Born on August 14, 1953, in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Paul Rusinko and Doris (Kosko) Rusinko.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering from Penn State University. He began his career with Packo Industrial Ceramics in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and later worked as a ceramic engineer for Lanxide Armor Products and W. L. Gore & Associates in Delaware.
A man of deep faith, Mark was an active member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church for 25 years, where he served as the head of Mercy Ministries and was a deacon. He dearly loved his church family and the men in his Tuesday morning Bible study. His life reflected his unwavering faith and love of Jesus.
Mark was preceded in death by his late wife, Paula (Rock) Rusinko; and his brother, John, who died at age six from complications of spina bifida. Mark and Paula met on their first day of college in the registration line and shared 38 years of marriage before her passing. Together, with their daughter Leah, they spent many happy summers in Sanibel and Captiva, where they enjoyed shelling, and Mark never passed up a slice of key lime pie.
Mark was fortunate to find love again when he married Jan Staddon Keen Rusinko. They shared nearly seven wonderful years together filled with travel, laughter, and time with family. Mark and Jan explored Europe, visited national parks, and were always planning their next trip. Mark especially loved being part of Jan’s extended family and delighted in spending time with their grandchildren, who called him Pop-pop and brought him great joy.
Mark cherished time with family and was known for his kindness and easy laughter. He loved cooking for family and friends, and his spaghetti was a favorite at many gatherings. He was a steady and reliable presence in the lives of those who loved him. Mark was always the person to call for practical advice or help with a project, whether it was choosing the right kind of paint, deciding what fertilizer to use on the lawn, or how to go about repairing something.
An avid sports fan, Mark almost always had a game on or was checking the score. His son-in-law, John, could count on a phone call after a big play, or a conversation about golf on a Sunday afternoon. Friends and family rarely saw Mark without a Diet Coke in his hand, and he had a well-known love of pastries and Reese’s peanut butter cups.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Rusinko of Newark, DE; his daughter, Leah Kulikowski, and her husband, John, of Wilmington, DE; Jan’s children, Adam Keen and his wife, Sarah, of Colorado Springs, CO; Sarah Casey and her husband, Jordan, of Wynnewood, PA; and Megg Acquilano and her husband, Rick, of Concord, NH; grandchildren, Reagan, Declan, and Sloane Keen, and William and Matthew Casey; and his sister, Susan Harrington and her husband, Dave, of Astoria, OR.
A Memorial Service will be held at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 109 Gypsy Hill Road, Landenberg PA, 19350 on April 18th. A Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am. A light lunch will follow.
Mark will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Surely Jesus welcomed him into heaven by saying “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
