Mary B Paul

Mary was born October 11,1949 in Colorado City, Texas to Grady and Mary Beach. She died peacefully Monday morning September 2, 2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roy Lee. She is survived by her husband, Bill, her daughter and son in law , Lindsey and Chris Hervey, 2 grandsons, Will and Grady, and 2 nieces Vicki Rinehart and Sue Ann Dominguez and various other relatives including but not limited to The Cousins. Mary graduated from Colorado High school and earned her degree in education from Angelo State and later a masters degree from the University Of Texas at Austin. Mary and Bill were married November 23, 1973. Mary's first job was at Blanton 6th grade center as a classroom teacher where she met the first of her lifelong teacher friends (the Blanton Bunch) and principal Beulah Smith who influenced Mary's classroom and teaching techniques for rest of her career. Nine years later Mary transferred to the Leander ISD as an English teacher in the junior high. After a couple of years she joined the gifted and talented program and for the next 15 years or so taught QUEST at various elementary schools in LISD until she decided to follow her passion and become an Interior Decorator with Decorating Den Interiors. She loved decorating and was excellent at it, she never considered it work, but with an economic slow down and a call from LISD she went back to the school district as an instructional coach, This was a new position which she helped define and institute and the one she held until she retired with 21 years with LISD. Memories of Mary will vary depending on the circumstances , wife, mother, teacher, student, friend, neighbor, Blue Belle Mom, but for the family perhaps her best job was Grandmother. She was a bit hesitant at first, but it turned into the best job she ever had, and she defined the role. If you want to celebrate Mary's life, a suggestion would be go eat some mexican food, have a couple of good margaritas, then go find a honky tonk and dance till they throw you out. A more sedate celebration of life will be held at The Austin Marriott North 2600 La Frontera Blvd Round Rock Tx on Sunday Nov 10th between 2-4pm. Catered with cash bar. Ya' come if you can. Donations can be made in Mary's name to any dementia charity you would like.
