Mary E. (Billings) White passed away at home on 29 March 2026. She was born in the San Francisco, CA, area to Donald and Betty (Ward) Billings on 1 September 1949. She had two brothers (Sheldon and James) and one sister (Cheryl). Mary did most of her growing up in Albuquerque, NM, graduating from Sandia High School. She began her early adult life in Plainview, TX. There, she first worked as a hair dresser and then as a phlebotomist and EKG technician. While working as a laboratory supervisor in the regional hospital, Mary met her future husband, Monty White, who was an orderly working his way through college. They were married 1 December 1976. They have two children, Mary Alisa (White) Weigel and Kevin W. White. Mary was an exceptional military spouse, traveling to exotic locations like Biloxi, MS (twice); Athens, Greece; Colorado Springs, CO; and Hampton, VA. Like many other military spouses, Mary was an exceptional homemaker. She made the trip to Greece on her own with the children at ages three and two months. She managed the home, children and all finances while Monty was on a 13-month remote assignment and again when he made frequent temporary duty trips with his last assignment. Though reluctant to leave the Hampton Roads area, Mary followed Monty in his retirement to Colorado Springs. She worked as a medical secretary, receptionist and bank security guard. She was a long-time member of Sunrise UMC, serving on the Welcome Team, ushering and teaching a Discipleship course. One of Mary’s greatest joys was music—especially the classical music concert performances by her daughter. Mary bought Alisa a piano when she was only two. Mary loved hearing the sound from it, except when the Greek movers had to carry it two floors up a spiral staircase. Mary was extremely proud of Kevin’s service in the U.S. Navy and subsequent career in law enforcement. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Sheldon. Mary is survived by her sister (Cheryl “Billings” Cornelius), her brother (James Billings), Monty, Alisa, Kevin and five grandchildren (Cam Weigel, Julia Weigel, Andrew Weigel, Isabella Weigel and Sophia Weigel). In lieu of flowers, Mary would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice in her name. Mary regularly contributed to St. Jude, Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors, ASPCA and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. She gave to many others on a less regular basis. Her generosity was indicative of her sweet nature. Her departure leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved her.
