Maureen McCann, age 74, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
Maureen McCann, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on February 16, 2021. Maureen was the daughter of John and Mary Lenihan. Born December 30, 1946 in Massachusetts, Maureen hit the ground running and never stopped. The daughter of a military father, she traveled the world and left her mark wherever she landed. Again, never one to sit still, she took an opportunity to teach in Turkey where she met the love of her life and ultimately her husband of 50 years, Francis Xavier McCann. While she was hard to catch; he finally did and their new adventure began together. Like her father, Frank was a pilot in the Air Force and they traveled the world as a new family.
She was a woman ahead of her time and was routinely in trouble with the nuns for playing sports with the boys. Of course, this didn’t deter her and she went on to learn to ski which became a lifelong passion she passed on to her family and friends. Her boundless energy came in handy while raising her three daughters and ultimately sharing her love of life with her five precious grandchildren. To her grandchildren she will always be ‘Nana’ who whoops and sings while she skis.
Maureen graduated from Wasson High School (Colorado Springs, CO) in 1965 and received a B.A. from Western State (Gunnison, CO) in 1969.

She is survived by her husband, Frank McCann; daughters Erin Chapman, Meghan Gjone and Katie McCann; siblings Mike, John and Candy Lenihan; grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Mackenzie Chapman; Jack and Simon Gjone.
