He was born December 17, 1957 to Johnie L. and Marjorie Bailey of Colorado Springs. Mike was a graduate of Fountain Fort Carson High School in 1977 where he enjoyed playing football.
In 1983 Mike was working for Custom Countertops where he met the love of his life, Deborah “Debbie” (Jorgensen) Bailey. They were married on March 17, 1984.
Mike is survived by his spouse Debbie, their 4 daughters Shawna Moreland (Ronald), Sarah Carlee (Christopher), Somer Fay (Johnathan) and Stephanie Bailey (Johnathan Richards), his brother Jerry Bailey (Ruth), his sisters Sarah Sullivan (Klaus) and Jane Eatman (Jeff), his sisters-in-law Cindy Gilmore, Karen Jackson, and Judy Jorgensen (Robert Cook) as well as 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter on the way. He had many nieces and nephews.
Mike shared a very close relationship with his mother Marjorie and sisters Sarah and Jane as well as his brother-in-law Klaus Sullivan. After meeting his wife, he developed a close relationship with his sister-in-law Judy Jorgensen.
In 1991 Mike took after his dad’s love of working with wood and opened his own business, Bailey’s Custom Countertops. Over the years Mike’s many customers and friends appreciated his hard work and integrity, creating a highly reputable name in the countertop business.
During his free time, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, video games and traveling. Mike enjoyed being a part of the pit crew for the #88 Sam Kinkennon racing team with his brothers-in-law and friends, helping in any way able. He was an accomplished archer, having won multiple trophies and competitions. Mike thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors feeding the birds and squirrels as well as tending to his garden. Mike loved his grandchildren and would light up when he talked about them. He loved taking his “Grandpa naps” and was known to enjoy his midnight snack of a peanut butter sandwich.
Through fishing and hunting, Mike mentored friends and family, making an impact on the next generation through his passions and hobbies. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
