Michael Stephen Bergez, age 67, of Colorado Springs, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Michael was born on September 1, 1954, in San Francisco, California.
Michael is survived by his wife of almost 25 year, Agnes Bergez, daughter Sarah Bergez and son Justin (Ouliana) Bergez, father Lou Bergez, stepmom Joanna Bergez, two younger brothers Dan (Ok Hyon) Bergez and Chris (Renee) Bergez, and sister Brooke Bergez. He is also survived by Agnes’ sisters, Francisca Tijiam and Jolan Tijiam, his sisters-in-law who also loved him dearly.
Michael loved the Lord and everyone he encountered. He loved spending time with his family and Buddy his dog. And while he loved fishing, he was most passionate about being a fisher-of-men, desiring all men to come to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to experience the rest and comfort that Michael had found in Him. Even in the last days of his hospitalization, and in spite of experiencing great pain in his hands, he wrote a ten-page letter to a nurse sharing the gospel and making sure that she understood what being born again was all about. He truly was a servant of the Lord who evidenced his love for his Savior.
A committal service will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 10:00am to 10:30am at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80925, where Michael will be laid to rest. The memorial service will take place Friday, July 8, 2022, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918, with a reception immediately following from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
