Nancy Lynn Wilburn, born September 28th, 1957, 68, passed away peacefully at her home in Colorado Springs on March 24, 2026. A total firecracker from the very beginning, Nancy lived life on her own terms with a spirit that was as bright as it was unforgettable.
Service, Spirit, and Love
Born in Muncie, Indiana, Nancy possessed an adventurous heart. At 18, she joined the U.S. Air Force and served for four years, taking her to unique locations around the world, including Greenland. During her time there, she earned both a longevity service award and a good conduct award. She settled into family life in Colorado Springs, marrying her husband, Hugh Wilburn, on May 8th, 1982. That early spark never left her; she simply poured it into the people she loved most.
Her Favorite Way to Spend Time
Nancy was at her absolute best when her family was gathered around her. She didn't need a formal occasion to be happy; she just wanted everyone together, talking, laughing, and having fun. She cherished the memories made on family trips to:
Clearwater, Florida; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Kauai, Hawaii, anywhere she could swim like a dolphin and enjoy the water.
Elitch Gardens: She loved watching her daughters have the time of their lives (even if a ride or two ended in tears).
The Heart of a Nana
Nancy was a devoted wife to Hugh and a fiercely loving mother to Angela and Amber. Her most treasured role, however, was being a Nana. She was the immensely proud Nana to her grandchildren: Apollo, Walter, and Malakhi. They were the absolute lights of her life, and she took great joy in seeing them grow and thrive.
A Life Already Celebrated
Because Nancy loved being in the middle of the fun, a celebration of her life was held with her family and friends while she was still here to enjoy the laughter and stories. In keeping with her wishes, no further formal services will be held. She passed as she lived: surrounded by the love of her family, in the home she made her own.
