Patti was born in Oskaloosa Iowa to Gene and Margaret Dunkin July 27, 1954.
Patti married the man of her dreams, Jackson (Jack) Pope, March 3, 1979. She had 4 children Dave (Jenny), Jennifer “Spud” (Steve), Heath (Melissa) and Eric. At the time of her death she was blessed to have 10 grandchildren.
Patti had a degree in Elementary Education and was a Certified Financial Para Planner. Because her husband Jack’s career required them to transfer/relocate several times, she taught in several school districts including Cherry Creek/Denver, St. Louis and Boston.
Although Patti taught off and on during her life, she said her most important job was being Mom and she was always very thankful that during her children’s younger years she was able to be a stay at home mom. A very loving and devoted wife and mother, one of her greatest joys came from “spoiling” her grandchildren at every opportunity.
Patti was always very active in church and women’s ministries and as Jack would say, “she is my greatest support and cheerleader…when I fell down, she helped me get back up, dusted me off and pointed back in the right direction.” Upon Patti’s retirement from teaching, she became a Volunteer Reader for the Douglas County Public Library’s and spent countless hours reading several days per week to preschoolers.
Survivors include Husband Jackson, Son David (Jenniffer), Daughter Jennifer “Spud” (Steve), Grandchildren Jonathan, Colin, Steven and Ainhoa of Colorado Springs. Grandchildren Hayden, Madison, Travis, Ryan. Laney and Davie Lee of Massachusetts. Brother Randy (Shiela) Dunkin. Several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Patti was preceded in death by her parents and son Heath.
The family of Patti requests that casual dress, comfy sweatshirts or Hawaiian print. Just like Patti, casual, cozy and bright.
