Patsy Myrle Sherrick, age 73 of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away Sunday, August 2nd, 2015, in her home of natural causes. She was born to the late Melvin Earl Coe and Frances Louise Ditmore July 9th, 1942.
In Patsy’s early years she attended several schools while she was growing up. Her father, Melvin, was in the Navy and upon retiring worked in the oil fields which required several moves for the family. She also attended college on and off over her lifetime.
As an adult, Patsy married three times. In light of this fact, she may also be known by the surnames Jones or Swaner. Some of the different places she lived include several places in Texas, California, Spain, Arizona, and most recently, Colorado.
Patsy believed in working hard. She did whatever she needed to do to provide for her family. She was a bookkeeper for most of her life for different industries including car dealerships, office supply companies, door companies, etc.
As most people that don’t mind working hard, Patsy had an entrepreneurial spirit about her. She tried different businesses over the years including a Mary Kay consulting business, breeding Rottweilers and Cocker Spaniels, and various payroll businesses. She was also the owner of a bicycle shop in Tucson, Arizona for a while. In her later years she had her own business as a process server here in Colorado Springs. Patsy had no problems with rolling up her sleeves and getting to work.
Patsy was a true believer in being of service to people. She was a volunteer with various organizations around Colorado Springs, and she also served as president of her homeowner’s association. When her grandchildren were younger, she looked after them for her daughter. However she could help people out, she would do so cheerfully and with purpose.
Patsy also knew how to have a good time. In her leisure time she would travel, or work on various hobbies. When she was younger she was quite an artist. She drew and painted, and loved working with ceramics.
Patsy leaves behind three children: Teresa Geneva Finazzo of Round Rock, Texas; Kermit Allen Swaner (and wife Wendy) of Rockwall, Texas; and Melissa Kay Cherek (and husband Brian), of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Patsy has left behind seven grandchildren: Desiree, Kameran, Bobbi, Joshua, Zechariah, Kaylee, and Kassidy. She also had three great grandchildren: Brooke, Charlotte, and Zoey.
Patsy also has a surviving brother, Melvin Coe (and wife Kim) of Sweetwater, Texas; and a sister, Kathy Holland (with husband Tom) of Bastrop, Texas.
Patsy practiced her faith and belief in the Lord daily and called upon Him to provide peace and guidance in all situations. As God has received another angel, we call upon Him to comfort those who will miss her and all of those she touched.
Donations may be made in Patsy’s honor to her favorite charity: The Marion House Soup Kitchen / Catholic Charities of Colorado, 228 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80903.
