Bob was the ideal combination of warm personal friend and outstanding professional colleague.
I have known Bob since my early grad. student days -  a time when he unselfishly helped and encouraged me. Later, when I came to Los Alamos, I had the privilege and pleasure of working directly with Bob. Bob is always generous with his time and in his caring for others. I'm confident that this spirit lives on.

I count myself blessed to have known and worked with Bob Day.  At a low ebb in my own life (after a year of unemployment), he took an interest in me and hired me on as one of his Astronomy colleagues at PPCC.  I marveled at his positive outlook on life, learning only later of his faith in Jesus Christ.  His was a life to emulate; an accomplished professional scientist, an advocate for students, a devoted husband-father-grandfather and a quiet but effective witness to the reality of the risen Christ.  His is a legacy worth leaving, although as his son Chris observed . . . all too soon.  May his family weather the grief and live lives worthy of his example.  I have no doubt they will.

Bob was an outstanding man--an exceptional scientist, a loyal friend, and a true leader. We will all miss him, even if we didn't have daily contact anymore. My love and sympathy go to Linda. We will be here for you.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel.   Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.  We will miss seeing Bob out doing yard work or walking on Silo Ridge.  It has been such a pleasure to have you as neighbors. We will miss him.

Even though I had not known Dr. Day for very long, it was so very sad to hear of his passing.  He always had a ready smile and quick laugh.  I will miss him.  My deepest heartfelt condolences go to his wife and family.  May God bless and watch over you at this very difficult time.

Working with Bob was a gift. His intellect, energy, and patriotism were unfailing traits he shared with humility. He continually sought solutions for problems at the program level and national level. Bob was essential to the Test Readiness Program, and after my move to the nuclear energy program, Bob called a couple of times for information and points of contact for ideas he had regarding solutions for the nation's energy. He just never stopped thinking about how to solve the nation's problems. His passing is a loss for all of us, and for me personally. He was an inspiration. God Bless Bob's family.

Bob was my friend and colleague in the astronomy department at Pikes Peak Community College.  He was a remarkably intelligent person and a great teacher.  He loved the job and the students. He will be missed by both students and faculty.

I had the great pleasure of working with Bob in a variety of associations in a variety of places like the Forrestal Building and the Nevada Site Office.  He is a great example of the people that kept this country safe and free.  My sincere condolences to the family.

Bob was a true friend and colleague.  We played softball, we backpacked, we talked physics.

I worked with and for Bob during my early years at the Lab. He was an inspiring leader and a true scientist. "Question everything; accept nothing on faith." My sympathies to his family.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Bob's passing.  I greatly enjoyed my time as Bob's chief of staff and treasured his wise advice and powerful intellect.  I offer my sincerest condolences to his family.  He will be truly missed.

Dr. Day was a dynamic individual who touched many lives, and truly brought happiness to all those around him. I have only had the privilege of knowing him a short while, but his impact will be with me for the rest of my life. He will be missed by all.

It is sad to see him go, a better mentor for a project does not exist. His energy and insight will be sorely missed at the launch.

Many words come to mind when I think of Bob; brilliant, down-to-earth, personable, kind, funny....I will always remember his laugh and his warm smile. To his wife Linda and his family, my deepest condolences to you during this most difficult time and thank you for sharing Dr. Day with us; he will be greatly missed.

We were forever astounded at the seeming unlimited energy that Bob had for learning and work, and love of life.

Bob was a boss, mentor and most importantly a friend that inspired me to achieve what I never thought I could.  His wisdom, insight and focus I will always value.  I will fondly remember the long days spent worrying about what in retrospect was insignificant only to realize that the time spent with Bob meant so much to so many of us who looked-up to him.

All who were fortunate enough to know Bob Day as a friend and colleague recognized that he was steadfast and true.  His seemingly eternal optimism in the pursuit of knowledge and truth in both acedemics and personal interactions created trust and confidence that was inspirational.  The world is a better place because of Bob.  His passing creates a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

I enjoyed the brief time that I got to work with Bob. He always encouraged me to improve the courses and how we could best present the material to the students. He was a friend as well. We will miss him sincerely. - Floyd Glick
