He was born March 13, 1926 in Collingswood, New Jersey, to Isador and Helen Green, the middle son of three boys. Bob joined the Navy at the age of 17, and served in World War II on a mine sweeper in the South Pacific and retired a Chief Petty Officer. Bob met Maxine Forbes, a WAVE, when they were serving in the chaplain’s office together. They were married in 1951 and had four sons. After Maxine’s death in 1986, Bob married Mabel McGuire in 1989 and added seven stepchildren to his family.
Bob was a loving father and husband, very faithful in his church and serving many years as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and wherever needed. In his retirement, he loved to travel, traveling through all fifty states and several countries. He loved collecting military memorabilia, lighthouses, anything with President Reagan; a connoisseur of good seafood and a well-poached egg. He was a well-loved grandpa, rarely missing a graduation or wedding of any grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Green, his brother Jerry (Judy) Colfer, his four sons: Dan (Lisa) of Denver, CO, Audie (Marsha) of Allen, TX, Mark (Kim) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jeff (Linda) of Colorado Springs, CO; his seven stepchildren and their spouses, 25 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
