

Rosalind Frances Pehoski (Roz, Rozi), née Oakshott, of Long Beach, CA, passed away at age 71 on Nov. 19, 2018 due to a pulmonary condition. Beloved wife of 38 years to the late Barry Clark Pehoski, mother to

Ross; aunt of Dr. Stephen (Ginny) Chappell, Cynthia (Tony) Desderio, Gregory (Alyssa) Ross, Stephanie (Tyler) Leshney, Erin (William) Coulter, Michael (Nancy) Pehoski, Lori (Scott) Jones, and Donna Ford; cousin of Rev. Denis G. Wilde; niece of the late Margaret (James) Wilde and daughter-in-law to the late Gladys (John) Morgan and Floyd Pehoski. Rosalind was born January 1, 1947 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Eric and Elizabeth Oakshott, née Nedorost. As an NYU graduate pianist and educator, Elizabeth directed the children toward music. Rozi graduated from Shortridge HS in Indianapolis in '64 and received a vocal scholarship from Ball State University. She completed her BA in Music at Ball State in '68. Post-graduation, Rozi taught for Indianapolis Public Schools and earned her Master's in Education from Butler University. Barry met Roz on a blind date; they married in '73. Settling in West Bloomfield, MI, she gave birth to Brian in '77 and Lauren in '82. Rozi resumed her teaching career in '92, primarily teaching first grade in Pontiac School District. In '04, she earned her Education Specialist and ESL certificates through Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Roz retired in '08 at which time she and Barry took many trips in the US and abroad. After Barry's passing in '12, she left her home of 30 years for Long Beach, CA to enjoy the temperate climate and proximity to family. She spent 6 years there; 3 of them were spent with her cat Annie who has since moved a few doors down. Roz was a music lover and an avid reader with an impressive vocabulary. She loved taking care of her beautiful plants, she was passionately engaged in world events, and she was a talented cook. Rosalind F. Pehoski will be remembered most for her sharp wit, congenial nature and stunning bright blue eyes. Memorial services were held in Long Beach, CA and Mount Laurel, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Pehoski's name to Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
