Shaun was born March 6, 1982, to Marjorie (Lawson) Wrestler and William Lawson. He grew up in Colorado Springs; however, spent a short time in Farmington, NM. He earned his GED in 2002 and graduated with his Associates Degree in Applied Science with a focus as a Lease Operator in 2009 from San Juan College. Shaun held many jobs but especially enjoyed his most recent employment at O’Reilly Auto Parts in Colorado Springs.
Growing up, Shaun was a huge basketball fan and especially loved the Chicago Bulls. As an adult, Shaun loved the outdoors. In the winter he enjoyed downhill skiing, especially at Monarch and Keystone Ski Resorts. Summer would find Shaun enjoying the outdoors by camping, boating and fishing. He took pride in his yard and enjoyed gardening. He would often compete with his sister as to who had the better summer crop. He especially enjoyed going to the mountains for some peace and serenity. In addition to the great outdoors, he loved collecting dragons and coins. He looked forward to the yearly Renaissance Festival where he would be drawn toward the huge pewter dragons. Additionally, he enjoyed researching the history of coins and every once in a while, he was lucky to have ran across a rare find.
He recently purchased a motorcycle. His “mid-life crisis” he said and was looking forward to getting his motorcycle license this summer and feel the wind in his hair, or lack thereof.
Shaun loved the people in his life dearly. He had strong ties to his family and friends and never hesitated to offer a helping hand. He had a deep love for God and faith pulled him through all the days. Shaun was also known for his sense of humor and this trait is mentioned often by others.
Shaun is survived by his mother, Marjorie Wrestler (stepfather Don Motzer); Aunt, Maraleta Swenson (“Unkl” Bob Gramling); Uncle Charles Lawson (Joan) and cousin Amberlin; sister, Christy Martinez (Martin) and niece Estella Martinez. Shaun is preceded in passing by his father, William Lawson; maternal grandparents, Theodore and Alleta Searl; and paternal grandmother, Lillian Lawson.
Day of remembrance will be held on Saturday April 26th at 1pm at Chapel Of Memories, 829 South Hancock Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Time will be given to reflect and share stories from Shaun’s friends and family. Shaun’s family looks forward to meeting those whose lives he touched.
