Socoro Abeyta was born June 17, 1928 to Cornelio de Jesus Montoya and Elisaida Manzanares in Laramie WY. One of seven siblings she was raised in the San Luis Valley and the lower Arkansas Valley, finally settling in Boone CO with her husband Osvaldo Abeyta where they raised 9 children. She was widowed in 1999 and continued to live in Boone until she moved to Colorado Springs in 2005 spending the rest of her life there.
Socoro loved life and was very outgoing. You were only a stranger to her once. Her gregarious personality garnered her many friends and acquaintances. She held a strong and faithful belief in GOD, and we find great comfort in knowing she is with our Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her son Alvin Abeyta, her husband of 53 years Osvaldo Abeyta, her parents Cornelio Montoya and Elisaida Manzanares as well as all six of her siblings.
She is survived by her eight children: Ralph (Maria) Abeyta Aurora, CO, Chuck Abeyta Littleton, CO, Lillie Manzanares Colorado Springs, CO, Andy (Dorthy) Abeyta Laveen, AZ, Jackie Abeyta (Rock) Sacramento, CA, Kathy (Chris) Gregory Colorado Springs, CO, Theresa Abeyta Rosales Pueblo, CO, Lucrisha Abeyta Colorado Springs, CO.
She had 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She will be dearly missed and remembered for her many endearing qualities but most of all for her unconditional love.
