Suzann was born August 3, 1957, in Mankato, MN. She lived with her parents, Howard Matz and Susanna (Friesen) Matz in Jackson, MN, where her father was a school teacher in the Jackson Public School. Later on that year, the family moved to DeKalb, IL, where her father was an instructor in the University School at Northern Illinois. She lived there with her parents until 1961, when they had to move to Colorado Springs, CO because of her mother’s health. She was educated in the School District #11 School System. Upon graduation, she attended John Brown University for one year, followed by earning her certification as a Floral Designer from the Cliff Mann Floral School in Denver, along with her mother. She was employed by the Broadmoor Hotel Greenhouse for eight years. Then, after some construction management, she worked in the U.S. Bank System where she earned her degree in Finance. This was followed by 25 years with the Colorado Springs Planning Department.
Suzann is survived by her Dad, Howard. Her mother passed away in February of 1998. She leaves many cousins and many dear friends in the working world.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 9th at 2:00 PM at the chapel at the Evangelical Christian Academy, 2511 N. Logan Ave., Colorado Springs, led by Rev. Jim Singleton. Funeral services and burial will be in Delft, MN.
