

Vincent Brunetti, 95, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on November 23, 2022, due to a 5 year cancer battle involving many complications and congestive heart failure. He was a true fighter, and one “tough soldier” with a strong will to live. He always pushed himself to rise above his aliments. He was born July 1927, to Frank and Mary Brunetti in Brooklyn New York. On March 3, 1951 he was united in marriage to Jean Sells of Southall England at Holy Trinity Church. Together they shared 54 years of marriage until her death on September 4, 2005.
At the young age of seventeen Vince tried to join the armed services but his mother would not sign the papers, as a result he was drafted into the Army Air Corps in September 1945. He made a career in the United States Air Force and retired April 1974. TSgt Brunetti’s retirement ceremony took place at the North American Aerospace Defense Command facility, NORAD, in Colorado Springs. During his military service he was an aircraft mechanic on the B-25, then assigned to the B-25 Mitchell Bomber crew until November 1946, then assigned to Radar Bomb Scoring (RBS) till 1962. During this time he worked on the “Operation Crossroad Project” for testing nuclear weapons, then Comptroller and Data Management Systems. During his career he was awarded; Crew Member Wings, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Longevity Service Award, National Service Defense Medal, and the WWII Veteran Honor and Remembrance Medallion. He proudly served the United States of America which he loved as a veteran of three wars; World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War. After his military retirement, in 1974 he began working for El Paso County School District Eleven building maintenance and retired in 1991.
Our father was dearly loved and will be missed. His 95 years of life and his stories were interesting and an eye opener as to how much our world has changed.
He is survived by his children, Sheryl O’Bryan and Russell Brunetti, both of Colorado Springs, his only grandson, Austin O’Bryan (Sarah) and their children, Elliot and Elsie, his great grandchildren of Colorado Springs.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, December 12, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. A Funeral Meal will immediately follow in the Bonzel Hall of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
A Committal Service with Full Military Honors will take place at 2:30PM, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B, 3698 South Sheridan Drive, Denver, Colorado 80236.
