William H. (Bill) Clover, Ph.D, age 73, most recently of Monument, CO, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife, family and many friends and colleagues around the globe. Bill was born on June 30, 1945 to Herbert and Josephine Clover in East St. Louis, IL. He is survived by his wife, Janet Clover (Welle), his son, Todd, daughter-in-law Tara, grandson Jackson and granddaughter Aaliyah; his daughter, Julie Knight, son-in-law Andrew and granddaughter Tessa. He also leaves behind a sister, Gloria Furhop, and brother Paul, both of Collinsville, IL, along with eight nieces and nephews
After graduating from Assumption High School, East St. Louis, IL, in 1963, Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. (1968) Following graduation he was commissioned into the US Air Force where he served for 21 years. During that time he also completed a Masters Degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX (1973) and later a Doctorate in Psychology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. (1978)
Bill served as a Personnel Officer during the early part of his AF career, but upon completion of his PhD was recruited to join the faculty at the Air Force Academy where he served for 12 years. During that time he was awarded tenure in the Department of Behavioral Sciences.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Bill worked in a number of corporate positions, developing programs and activities in areas such as executive leadership, corporate learning, and individual coaching. He also worked as Dean of Executive Education at the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Bill retired from full-time employment in 2012, but continued to consult with various companies, organizations, and educational institutions nationally and internationally.
Bill was passionate about learning and teaching at every level. With his cherished wife beside him, nothing gave him more pleasure in life than reading and spending time with his family and friends. He enriched the lives of all who knew him.
