

Marv was born in Konawa, OK on May 9, 1946 to William Marvin and Geneva Hazel Wooten. He graduated from Seminole High School, OK, and received his bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY in 1968. Marv married Ann E. Wooten (Perry) on June 5, 1968 in the USMA Cadet Chapel.
Marv served as an active-duty commissioned officer in the U.S. Army after graduating West Point, including combat in Vietnam. A Field Artillery officer, he retired in 1988 after a distinguished twenty-year military career. Subsequently, he spent three years earning a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary. Upon seminary graduation in 1991, he and his wife Ann led the Officers’ Christian Fellowship (OCF) ministry at West Point for six years. Marv then served from 1997-2005 as the Executive Director of Military Community Youth Ministries (MCYM), headquartered in Colorado Springs. Following MCYM, he started a local computer-graphics business, Catamount Graphics, and fully retired in 2015.
Marv had a fine and inquisitive mind, and always loved to learn new things. His hobbies and pastimes ranged the gamut: sailing, hiking, gardening, competitive kayaking, canoeing, reading, and more.
He took his greatest enjoyment from being with family, and in addition to his wife, Ann, is survived by his children Colin Wooten, wife Amy Wooten, Cameron Germann, husband Brian Germann, Miriam Harris, husband Jeff Harris, and Sam Wooten. Marv’s nine grandchildren include Caroline, Eric, and Ian Wooten, Cambria, Anna, and Benjamin Germann, Kate and Kaia Fair, and Braxton Harris. Marv is preceded by his brothers Bill and Dean Wooten, and survived by his sisters Marcia Hutchinson and Valerie Hurst.
