
Willielee (Ham)(Salisbury) Brown, age 92 of Colorado Springs, died peacefully in her home with her family beside her. She was the Daughter of Herbert Reed Ham and Lillie Aloren (Wood) Ham. She was born November 19, 1931 in Clarendon, Texas at the age of 11 months the family moved to San Diego, California. She graduated San Diego high school in 1950 She was a majorette. And was very popular in high school.
She married her first husband Raymond M. Salisbury. He was an electrician in the US Navy. She moved around with him to Hawaii, Arizona, and then back to California. She married her second husband, Benjamin H Brown, and with him she lived in California, Illinois, Puerto Rico, and finally Colorado Springs.
Willielee was very active in genealogy and traveled with her younger sister Maryalice to many states courthouses and cemeteries to research the family and extended family.
Willielee was an amazing hostess and cook. Her details to decorations, favorite foods and hospitality was not just a talent, It was a way of loving her friends and family . She was a beautiful lady that always dressed and looked wonderful. She was generous, funny and a great card and scrabble player.
She was very independent and still traveled across country by herself well into her 80s. With her husband Benjamin, they travel to many countries, England, Japan, France, Canada, Mexico, and Scotland. She has also traveled to all 50 states.
She is survived by her children, Randy Salisbury of Lakeside, California, Karen (Brown) Bright (Matthew) of Fellowsville, West Virginia, B. Hunter Brown II, of Nashville, Tennessee, Lynn Kitchen (Dwight) of Parker, Colorado, Craig Onufer of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Seven grandchildren Micah Salisbury (Amber) of Ocoma, South Dakota, Summer Onufer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Troy Ofer(Kiri) of Cave, Junction, Oregon, Benjamin (Benj) H Brown III (Andy)of Nashville, TN, Zachariah Brown (Kristy) of Clarksville, TN and Matthew Thomas Bright (Sabrina) of Reedsville, West Virginia.
Seven Great grandchildren. Felicia Brown (Josh) of Lakewood, CO, Michaella (Kayla) Salisbury Rozier (David), Cassandra, Salisbury, Brooklynn Bright, Thalia Bright, Gabriel, Bright, and Lillianna Bright.
One great great grandchild Parker Rozier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin H. Brown, a daughter Cynthia Salisbury Brown Onufer, grandson, Joshua, H. Bright, a brother, Donald Ham, a sister, Maryalice Pittman, and a special friend Folsom Jenkins.
The family would like to Thank Sandra Stephens for the loving care she gave taking care of Willielee.
Funeral arrangements will be held 12pm on Monday, January 9, 2024 at Evergreen cemetery chapel. Burial service will be held at Evergreen cemetery at1:30pm.
