David Lee Patterson

David was a loving brother, uncle, father and friend who passed away suddenly on July 8, 2013. He was born in El Centro, California on February 12, 1951 to Geneva Evans. He attended Brawley Union High School and graduated in June 1970. David then moved to Upland, California to continue his education and graduated from Chaffey College in June 1972. In 1974 David graduated from the Department of Corrections Academy beginning his career as a correctional Officer at California Institution for Men in Chino.

David retired from the Department of Corrections after 20 years of service as a Correctional Officer. He began his second career at the Boys Republic and recently retired after 21 years of service in February 2013.

David enjoyed movies, music and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is preceded in death by his mother Geneva Evans, brother Henry Elliott, and one aunt and six uncles.

He is survived by his daughter Davina Patterson, three grandchildren, Juliet Cuellar, Jordan Moffitt, Jr., Noelani Moffitt, brother Gary Murray, nieces Mercedes Murray and Monica Murray, two sisters, Willie Mae Forrester, Adella Patterson, extended sisters, Belinda Moore, Thasiea Morgan, Latisha Carey, extended brother Michael Carey, Uncle Harvey Evans, Sr., cousins, several nieces, nephews, many great nieces, great nephews and great-great nephews.

Regardless of the occasion he always had us laughing. If you were blessed to have known him you knew he was just a big "Teddy Bear." He was extremely loved by his family and will truly be missed by all.
