

Dixie Jourdan, 89, of Highland California, passed away on February 27, 2023 after a brief illness. Dixie, a native of Vacherie Louisiana, lived in California for the past 52 years.
Dixie’s greatest joy was being a wife to her (now deceased) Husband, John and as a mother to her daughter, Michelle. She enjoyed her experience as a United States Air Force Military Wife as she travelled to France and Japan along with many other locations. While at Norton Air Force Base, she worked for the Ballistic Missile Office and the Defense Finance Accounting Service, and after 40 years she retired as a Staff Accountant, GS-12.
Dixie was committed to serve and make her community a better place to live and spent many hours volunteering in various organizations such as the Kiwanis Club of Inland Center, the Radiant Rubies of Highland as a Red Hatter, Volunteering at The Jerry Pettis Veterans Hospital where she was recognized for volunteering over 5,000 hours, also a member of the Traditional Community Fellowship Chapel as an Usher and a member of the Finance Committee. Dixie was recognized by the City of Highland as a Citizen of the year. She also received the Black Rose award from the San Bernardino Black Culture Foundation.
Dixie was very astute in money management and served as a treasurer for many organizations. She was often instrumental in sharing her financial acumen. Those who knew Dixie understood she was not one to shy away from something she believed in and would voice her opinion when she felt the need.
Preceding Dixie in death was her Mother, Ruth Evangelin, Father, William Morgan, Brother, Simon Morgan (Ora, deceased), and the love of her life, her husband, John Joseph Jourdan.
Leaving to cherish her memories is her Daughter, Michelle Jourdan, Sisters, Ruth Evangelin McKay (Moody, deceased), M.Jean Pringle(James), Gwendolyn Brinston (Willie, deceased), Lauvinia Mae Jinkens, Barbara Banks (Lawrence), several nieces, cousins, friends and extended family. members.
