Edward "Eddie" Bautista

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Officer Edward “Eddie” Bautista, who died unexpectedly on July 10, 2025. Officer Bautista proudly served with the Fontana Police Department Badge #1125 since 2013, most proudly as a K9 handler, alongside his Police Service Dog Doc. Together, they worked countless hours tracking felony suspects, searching for missing persons, and keeping our community safe. Their teamwork was more than just a job—it was a bond that inspired everyone. They made a tremendous impact on our community.

Born on February 19, 1994 in Loma Linda, CA, Edward grew up with a passion for helping others. He knew he wanted to become a Police Officer at the young age of 11. He was a Police Explorer with Redlands PD from 2010-2012. After joining the Fontana Police Department as a Cadet in 2013, he quickly earned a reputation for his strong work ethic, loyalty, sense of humor, and big heart. He became a Police Officer on March 16, 2015 and earned a special assignment as a K9 Officer in 2019. Becoming a K9 handler and following in his mom’s footsteps was a dream come true for him.

Beyond the badge, Edward has a deep sense of love and loyalty for his family. He was a devoted son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He loved spending time with family, photography, traveling, snowboarding, water sports, skateboarding, and hanging out with friends. He could light up a room with his infectious smile and mustache that had a personality of its own. He would be the first to lend a hand when you needed it and make you instantly feel like family.

He is survived by his mother Norma Bautista, his grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins, his girlfriend, his brothers, and sisters in law enforcement, and his K9 partner Doc. He touched countless lives in both his personal and professional lives with his kindness, compassion, and generosity. He will never be forgotten. He will be forever honored, and his legacy will live on. Rest easy Eddie. We love you and will take it from here.

A celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2025 at the Water of Life Community Church 7625 East Avenue Fontana, CA 92336

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to BARC Animal Rescue in Redlands to continue supporting the work with animals that he was so passionate about.
