For me a grandfather is someone with Silver in his hair and gold in his heart. Papa was a very caring, loving, and an affectionate man. He never made feel like I wasn't part of the family, he made me feel loved, like I was one of his own. Papa was a true gentleman. Watching Mama and him go out for walks in the evenings while holding hands helped me see that there is such a thing as true love. A love that I admired and wanted to have in my life. For this lesson and many more gifts she has given to me I will always be grateful to him.

Our lives are so much richer for having known your father/grandfather.  He was a kind, humble, gentleman who always found a way to uplift the people around him.  Even more, he was a man of faith who lived by faith.  His legacy is more than rich memories (of which there are countless), it is a pathway to follow for those who knew and loved him.

We extend our warmest condolences to you as you mourn his departure.  As you comfort yourselves with the knowledge that Elias is in the presence of Christ, all of us need to renew our commitment to that same pathway, so that we can all be reunited in Christ on that day.

Like for most people a song can trigger a memory, but in this case my memories of  grandpa trigger a song. 
I woke up early one morning in grandparents house in highland park. Like most morning my grandparents where sitting at the dinning table looking through a book of hymns deciding what song to sing. I sat by a window ready to hear what I thought would be just another of there duets. "Dios esta aqui," a song I had heard before but not like that morning. Grandmas soft but perfect harmony to grandpas tenor. It was perfect. I've never experienced a song like that, every word every perfectly harmonized note, etching it's self into my memory. My best and favorite memory.

I will always thank God for having such a wonderful family and always greatful 
for the legacy my Grandpa is leaving behind. Through music he taught us how to love and honor God and passed down his talents to his family. My favorite memory is awking up to the sounds of my grandparents singing their duets Sunday morning before church. I am truly blessed to have learned so many lesson from such a talented man.
