

Eugene Edward Ivey, affectionately known as Bo, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 27, 1948. Growing up in Kansas City, he was an active and spirited youth who attended local schools, where he ran on the track team and developed a lifelong love for music—particularly jazz, which remained a passion throughout his life.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Bo served his country honorably from 1967 to 1969, exemplifying dedication and patriotism. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, and he carried those values with him always.
Following his service, Bo built a diverse and fulfilling career. He worked for major aerospace companies like Northrop and Lockheed, demonstrating his strong work ethic and skills. An avid truck driver, he loved the open road and even owned his own dump truck, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and love for trucking.
Bo was deeply committed to his community and cherished his roots. He was a regular attendee at East End reunions, celebrating the neighborhood and the bonds that shaped his life.
Throughout his life, Bo’s warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His passion for jazz music was a reflection of his soulful and vibrant personality.
He was a loving father to Eugene Edward Ivey II, and a proud grandfather to Tina Moon, Isaiah Ivey, Randy Ivey, Ty Ivey, and Myles Ivey. Bo also adored his great-grandchildren, Reggie Cole and Cash Ivey, who brought immense joy to his life.
The service for Bo will be held at a later date, and details will be announced to family and friends.
