Jerry Munoz

Jerry is survived by: his wife, Hazel Munoz; his children, Jerry Munoz, Sonya Ruvalcaba, Chris Munoz, Timothy Munoz, Melissa Hartill, Joel Munoz and their spouses; his 16 beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brothers, Mike Munoz, Mercy Munoz and beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, Pauline Zavala Munoz and Merced Munoz; his brothers, Willie and John Munoz.

Jerry was born on August 8, 1942 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Pauline and Merced Munoz. Jerry grew up in La Junta, Colorado. Jerry married Hazel Trujillo Munoz at the age of 19. Jerry and Hazel welcomed six children into their home and Jerry set about teaching them the hard work ethic. Jerry’s children remember him as being a protective and giving father with a great sense of humor, who encouraged them to pursue a faith in God. After moving to California, he began working for the El Monte City School District in air conditioning.

Jerry enjoyed pitching and playing in a softball community league for recreation. He was passionate about baseball and the mother of God. He treasured his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Alta Loma and often attended San Secondo D’Asti Church in Guasti, California.

The family would like to thank all of those who helped with their support and prayers for Jerry’s recovery. Unfortunately his time has ended with us on this earth. Our father in heaven has called him back. He is missed here immensely and will never be forgotten. We will always remember how giving he was to all of us!! Condolences can be sent to Hazel Munoz. In lieu of flowers, spiritual masses on behalf of Jerry or donations would be greatly appreciated.
