Laura Bell Fite Johnson was born May 25, 1927 to Willie B. Fite and Fred Johnson in Longbranch Texas. Laura was the only child, but was raised with one adopted sister Cora May Jefferson and several relatives.
At an early age, Laura accepted Christ at Shady Grove Baptist Church. She graduated from the Shady Grove School district. Laura later moved to California and married Leonard Reagins and to this union, 4 children were born Larry, Wanda, Linda and Leonard Jr.
Laura was one of the first Black females to own her own business in Banning, California known as Laura’s Petite Beauty Salon. Laura was a cosmetologist for more than 25 years, everyone loved her work and she was known as the “Wonder Woman of Hair”.
Later in life, Laura met and married the love of her life Zebbie Lee Campbell (Pops), they shared over 50 years together, 48 of those years happily married. One seldom saw one without the other. Together, in 1978, they started Z&L Paving, which still exists today. Pops would always say, the “Z” was in front of "the “L”, but the “L” is the boss, you do the math".
Her 2 Children and 2 Grandchildren preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband Zebbie; 2 daughters, Linda and Kathy; 2 sons, Leonard Jr. and Roger; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7great-great grandchildren; 1 niece and a host other relatives and friends.
