Lucy was the first daughter of Ernesto and Feliciana Campos Gaitan of Zacatecas, Mexico. She was born in San Bernardino, California on October 31st, 1926 and was the eldest sister in her family. She worked for the family business, The Mexico Restaurant. Lucy was married to Mel Hernandez and raised two children; Gerald M. Hernandez (d.2012) and Delia E. Kleinpass. She had an adventurous spirit and many interests and communities in which she was involved throughout her life including working at St.Bernadine's hospital and receiving a community service award for volunteering 1000 service hours to the Jerry Pettit Veterans hospital. She was a proud American, loved learning, travel, dancing, cooking, taking photos, taking care of her family and making everyone she met feel special. A true matriarch in our family, she lived 97 full years. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia and Margaret Gaitan, and is survived by two brothers, Manuel and Arthur Gaitan, her daughter Delia Kleinpass, 4-grandchildren, 15-great-grandchildren, and 7-great-great grandchildren.
