MAURICE CLEMONS

Maurice Clemons of Rialto, California, a loving husband and father, entered into rest on July 10, 2016, at the age of 81. He was born February 8, 1935 in Kanas City, Kansas. Maurice graduated from Sumner High School in 1953. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and married Susan Marie King on June 27, 1959, at Norton Air Force Base, in San Bernardino, California. Maurice was a Vietnam Veteran. In 1971, he moved his family from Japan and subsequently bought a home in Rialto, California. In 1974, while stationed at Norton Air Force Base, Maurice retired from the Air Force at the rank of Technical Sergeant after 20 years of service. He then worked another 10 years in civil service at Norton AFB. In 1981, Maurice earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from California State University San Bernardino.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Clemons; his father, Prince Gillis; his biological father, Warren Clemons (aka Jack Mohawk); and his siblings, Sterling Clemons; Mildred Graves; Jaunita Johnson; Emma Jean Clemons; Raymond Clemons; and Chester Clemons.

Maurice is survived by his wife, Susan; his three children, Kathleen L. Clemons of Rialto, CA; Maurice Terrence Clemons of Harker Heights, TX; Eric S. Clemons of Rialto, CA; a brother Warren Clemons (wife Irma) of Compton, CA; and a niece, who was like a sister, Janice Knight (husband Marvin) of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends. Although rheumatoid arthritis gradually stole his mobility, he still enjoyed watching movies, listening to music (the Blues), reading history books, and the company of good friends, especially Raymond and Bettye Baum, whom he met after joining the Air Force, and Thomas Coffey (wife Mildred), deceased, whom he met in kindergarten.

A memorial service will be held at Montecito Mortuary Valley View Chapel-3520 E. Washington St., Colton, CA on Monday, July 25, 2016, at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery-22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA on Monday, July 25, 2016, at 1:00 pm.
