Sarah Rose D' Errico

Sarah Rose D’Errico passed away August 22, 2010 in Redlands California. Sarah was 95 years old. Sarah was born in New York City March 13, 1915 shortly after her family had traveled to America from Italy passing through Ellis Island.

Sarah was the daughter of Salvatore and Martha Monetti of Naples Italy. Her family arrived in New York in 1915, settling in Union City, NJ where her father was owner of Monetti’s Bakery. She graduated from eighth grade before leaving school to care for her ailing mother. She met and married Michael D’errico in 1935. They lived in Union City where they were blessed with three sons, Pat (deceased), Michael, and Sal and a daughter Carol. While in Union City Sarah was a homemaker and assisted in her father’s bakery.

In 1951 the family moved to Moonachie NJ where Richard, Martha and Thomas were added to the family tree. Once in Moonachie, Sarah’s attentions were dedicated to the care and raising of her children. In 1964 the family moved to California. Sarah managed several apartment complexes until 1978 when her beloved husband passed away. From 1978 to 1988 Sarah worked as the assistant to the activities director for a nursing home. Upon retirement she moved to Redlands Ca where she enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sarah was a member of the Alliance Bible church of Redlands. She is survived by 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren.
