W. N. "Woody" McCormick

Weldon “Woody” McCormick was born in Seminole, OK to Alma and Barkley McCormick on June 12, 1936. Two siblings followed..Carolyn and Dale. About 1941, the family moved to San Bernardino, CA. Woody loved his town so much and said he had the best childhood.

He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise, in 1953.

Their first two sons arrived quickly..Gary Lane and Timothy Barkley.

Woody worked a lot of jobs to support his family...but..finally found his niche with Langendorf Bakeries in San Bernardino. By age 23, he was the youngest supervisor ever. This started his career as a salesman....he could out sell anyone..and sell anything.!!!

Two more sons added to the family: Troy Lyn and Patrick.

After 22 years, this 1st marriage ended. Woody married Jennifer in January, 1978. Now another son arrived with her..David Troutt.

Woody continued as Langendorf was bought and sold and by now he sold private label cookies to Stater Bros. and Albertson's. Everyone called him...the Cookie Man.

In December, 1980..Woody answered the Lord's call to be His son and to call him Savior. This was a turning point in his life.

Around 1985, Woody bought his first of 232 street rods...and joined the Over the Hill Gang car club with San Berdoo written on the jackets. Again...his love of cars combined with his salesmanship rapidly pushed him to the top....the CAR GUY.

Woody retired from cookies..in 1999. He was a cancer survivor, proud street rodder, and called Mountain Avenue Baptist Church his family.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 28, 2020, our Lord took Woody home to eternity with Him. A broken hip and a series of strokes brought him down. He always said, “Getting old is not for sissies.” He was not a sissy ..he fought a good fight.

We are left behind: Jennifer and his sons: Gary, Tim, Patrick & David. His family tree holds 13 grandkids, 25 great-grands, and 2 great-greats. His son, Troy, has been waiting for Dad in heaven. Even more, Woody has a half-brother, George, and half-sister, Lorena, plus a loving step-mom, Ofelia McCormick.
