It is already several weeks since Zach's passing. I only heard this week. I knew Zach in school, when we all were kids together. It's very sad to think he's left his family so soon. My sympathyies to your family, Zach. I was very moved by the many loving tributes your friends left. The names were something of a memory walk for me as well. Gosh, it's just too soon. I hope it's beautiful and restful where you are. We'll all be with you soon enough. Best.

We were so sorry to hear of Zach's passing.Our years together in women's and co-ed ball were the best.Our prayers go out to his family. He made a great impact on my life and confidence level, and even now, I never cross the bats.

I'd known Zack since he was 8 or 9 years old. In fact I know his whole family and have known them since I was 11 years old.He coached  our women's slow pitch team for many years.His dad, Norm,managed mine and Sharon's (his sister) senior girls softball team from the time we were 12 yrs. old. We were so close to all of the family. We also played co-ed slow pitch for many years. Zack brought us to a win almost every game. He was one of the greatest coaches I've ever had the pleasure to have known.I still have boxes of trophies.As I write this the tears are falling. Zack will be missed.

I knew Zack for almost 40yrs. We went to Long Beach State together and played baseball there. He was my very best friend in the whole world. I'll miss every day for the rest of my life. I am a better person for having known Zack. Rest well, my brother

My deepest sympathy to Zach Berch family and friends, I've known Zach from my Little League days with the Giants back in Colton in 1959. Norm Berch was my first coach and Zach and I became teammate friends forever.  I've lost touch with Zach because I live in Tucson, Arizona now, but when I heard of the news of his death I was saddened......I will truly miss Zach.

Wow ... what a shock, I just talked to Zeek last week at the gas station. Back in Kindergarden I started calling him Zeek. Although we didn't see each other often after our school years Zach was my oldest and one of my dearest friends even though as kids he was Ken Hubbs and Rich and I were Moose ... lol ... I never saw Zach without a smile on his face and he never failed to ask about my family everytime we ran into each other.  I Loved my days back in Lincoln Elementary School and I Loved my oldest friend ... Zeek from cabin creek! My deepest condolences to Zach's family and friends I know he will be deeply missed, and why not ... he was truly a man's man and a great guy. Til we meet again Zach ... lay off the high ones.

Zack will truly be missed.  I have done business with Zack for about 9 years now.  Zack made all my children’s team T-shirts, sweat shirts, printed names on bags for the teams he even but names on sweat pants for the girls one year.  I have such a great respect for the way Zack did business and I would recommend him to everyone.  I would take the silliest things for him to work with and it didn’t matter to Zack how big or little the job was he did it with pride and it was wonderful.  I will pray for your family, I am really sorry for your loss may God be with you.

Im old enough now to realize what I am today is from the people I have met. The Berch Family were very involved in the early part of my life . I learned to respect the game of baseball from Zach and Norm and hope to make a difference in the lives of people I still meet because of the game. My deepest sympathy to your family. I had did business with Zach for about 16 years and he was such a good person. Always asked how I was, yet always so busy. I had just talked to him the Friday before his passing and was shocked when I went to the shop and found out he passed away. Zach your were a dedicated person. I'm not just going to miss your business, but you as a person. Thank you for all your hard work.

I don't think anybody from the Colton-San Bernardino Area can ever "Talk Baseball" without the names of Zach and Norm Berch come up. They could always bring out the best in any ballplayer that would accept their "COACHING", God knows they they both meant alot to me over all those years. Dear Doris and Family,
When Zack’s obituary came across my desk today I could not have been more disheartened. I had the privilege of being selected by Norm and Jim Cash to play on the Giants.  Zach was a friend from my first practice with the team all the way through high school. I never knew him without a smile. Both he and Norm were special people and the heart of baseball to so many kids growing up in Colton. I will never hear the word “Scamp” without thinking of Zack behind the plate and Norm calling him from the dugout. I know today finds them playing catch in a higher place. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Zack, my true friend and advocate, I will miss you dearly.  You left us way too early.  I will always remember those good days when we played ball together, traveled to performances in the band bus and just hung out and talked, mostly baseball.  You and your dad were always very encouraging, and tried to keep my passion for whatever on an even keel, thank you.  I won't ever forget you and Rich Dauer showing up at the Riverside Invtaional to give me encouragment and support during that week.  I meant so much to see you two there.  I could go on and on, so suffice to say that I will truely miss you. Say hi to Norm for me.  And to you, Zach's family, I am so sorry for your loss, and may all the good memories that you made with Zack help you trough this difficult time.

There is emptiness in my heart with Zack’s passing.  We shared baseball, music and business with each other. Because of Zack I’ve shared your family, Doris, Klu, Rox and Norm. As I look back I wonder where the over 50 years have gone. I sure Zack and Norm are playing baseball right now.   I can hear Norm yelling “get down, eat dirt back there you scamp”.

It is with great sadness that I received notice of Zack’s passing. I met Zack when I was 10 years old and played on the little league team his father managed, the Giants. As teammates I spent every summer, until I was 12, playing baseball with Zack. We were Haller (#5) and Hiller (#6) of the big league Giants. Catcher and 2nd base.  We won two league championships together and we never lost to the Indians, a hard and fast rule of Norm’s. Through my friendship with Zack, and being coached by Norm, I found a love of baseball, that I hold till this day.  To his family I send my deepest sympathies, but know, I will always cherish my early childhood friendship and memories of Zack.

I graduated from Colton High School with Zack.  He was always a friend and I remember him as being such a good baseball player.  I haven't seen him since high school but wanted to let his family know that I will miss him and know that they will see him again.

Zack was an extraordinary person. I first met Zack in the summer of 1997. I needed some screen printing done and Zack was the man for the job. Fair prices, quality work and quick turnaround. He bailed me out of many jams I managed to get myself into. Whenever I needed help from Zack, he was there. To call him a 'hard-working' guy is a severe understatement. It's no secret why Flash Imprinted Sportswear was such a success. I learned a great deal from Zack. I don't understand why he had to leave so soon. Zack was just a great guy who will be greatly missed.
