Anne Lasio McEvoy passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018 at Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Ann Lasio, and brother, John Lasio. She is survived by her long term partner, Robert Brennan.
Anne was born in Laurium in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and graduated from Calumet High School in 1957. She attended college at Michigan State University, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1961, and moved to San Francisco after graduation. She returned to MSU where she pursued a Master’s degree in English, and later earned a Master’s degree in Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University. In 1969 she came to Maryland as a faculty member in the English Department at Catonsville Community College, now CCBC. She spent her career there as an English professor and retired in 2000.
Anne was beloved by many people. She had a wide range of interests; she was a world traveler, and loved reading, music, art, literature, and film. She was an avid birder and member of the Howard County Bird Club. She was also a volunteer at the Howard County Conservancy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on July 21, 2018, at Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., 5555 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia, MD 21045. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gilchrist Hospice Center of Howard County or the Howard County Conservancy.
