Audrey Williams Evans, age 88 of Westminster, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Audrey was born to the late John Bertram Williams and Lottie Amelia Schmidt Williams on October 8, 1930. She was one of three daughters. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marian Williams and Florence Williams Muchler. She grew up in Clarks Summit, PA where she met her husband, the late Robert Wallace Evans. Audrey and Bob were married on December 23, 1949 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Together Audrey and Bob began raising their family in Pennsylvania until job opportunities led them to Lutherville, Maryland where their family continued to grow. Audrey and Bob were blessed with five children: Linda Evans Penn (Eugene) of Columbia, Maryland; Karen Evans Guthrie (Robert) of Dublin, Ohio; Robert Jeffrey Evans (Mary) of Glen Rock, PA; Keith Alan Evans (Deana) of Woodbridge, VA and Mark Wallace Evans (Rhayne) of Hampstead, MD. With the birth of each of her eleven grandchildren, Audrey’s heart would melt as she welcomed a new life to her family. Babies brought Audrey special joy. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Audrey was the great-grandmother to seven precious little ones.
Although Audrey had a brief career as a telephone operator in Pennsylvania, her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Whether her home was in Clarks Summit, PA; Lutherville, MD; Ormond Beach, FL; Dublin, OH or Westminster, MD, Audrey loved spending time with her family, serving at her local United Methodist Church and making her house a home.
While serving at her church, Audrey shared her talents. She loved making crafts for yearly UMW Christmas Bazaars and serving on various committees. In her free time, Audrey loved creating needlepoint projects, crocheting, reading, flower gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles , travelling and the companionship of several furry friends in her lifetime. She and Bob enjoyed visiting many states across the U.S. over the years and especially enjoyed a trip to the United Kingdom where they were able to walk the steps of their ancestors.
Audrey lived her later years in Westminster, close to family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Westminster Ridge, who loved and cared for Audrey as their own.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Audrey’s life at a Memorial Service at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Sykesville, MD on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either First Foundation for Ichthyosis & Related Skin Types http://www.firstskinfoundation.org or Carroll County Hospice https://www.carrollhospice.org/home .
