Cheryl was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. A brilliant chemist and mathematician, Cheryl was Valedictorian of her senior high school class in 1962, and won National Honors in Latin and mathematical competitions. In college, she earned a double degree in chemistry and physical sciences from Maryland University in 1967. Cheryl worked at Goddard Space Flight Center as one of the first female computer programmers, performing analysis for many early unmanned satellites and manned space flights to the moon.
Throughout her life, Cheryl developed many amazing talents. She produced dozens of professional-quality oil paintings and sewing and embroidery projects. Cheryl made many lifelong friends through her love of games of all sorts. She was always ready for a game of cards, mah jongg, or bingo.
Through it all, her top priority was Gino, her loving husband of 49 years, and her children and grandchildren, supporting them in all of their events and enjoying many beach vacations together. Cheryl loved to travel in later years. She and Gino visited the majority of the United States and a dozen countries, including Germany, Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, and Switzerland.
Her sense of humor and constant good nature will live in the hearts of everyone she met. She is survived by her husband, two children, four grandchildren, and numerous close family.
