
Elizabeth Laura Graff, 68, died peacefully on March 17, 2017. She was born December 2, 1948, to Paul and Virginia Graff. Betsy was raised in Indiana, PA, and moved to Columbia, Maryland in the mid 1970's. She spent part of every summer at the beloved family home Eagles Mere, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Jeane. She is survived by brothers David (Maritza) and Thomas (Barbara); by nieces Kristina Graff (Joey Collins) and Jessica Graff; by nephews Brian Graff (Daniella) and Darren Graff; and by five great nieces and nephews.
Betsy graduated from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA, earned a BA from Mount Holyoke College and a Masters from Syracuse University, followed by additional studies at Florida State University. She taught music in the Maryland school system for more than 40 years, and her choirs and madrigal groups received honors and recognition well beyond her own school system.
She was devoted to her family and friends, and had a lifelong love of music.
A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, April 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Witzke Funeral Home , 5555 TWIN KNOLLS ROAD, COLUMBIA, MD 21045. Another service will be held in Eagles Mere this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts, P.O. Box 166, Eagles Mere, PA 17731.
