surrounded by family on Tuesday October 23, 2018. He is preceded by his
wife of over 50 years, Grace Bargas. He leaves sons Mark Bargas, James
Bargas, Scott Bargas and daughters Jane Bressler and Linde Haynes. He
is survived by twelve grand children, Nineteen great grandchildren and one
great, great grandchild. Joseph was born December 27, 1926 in Alamosa,
Colorado. He was one of six siblings whom all have preceded him.
Joseph joined the US Army Air Corp in 1945 and retired from the US Air
Force in 1966. He worked for the US Department of Interior until his
retirement in 1985. Some noteworthy accomplishments include WWII
Victory Medal, The Air Force Commendation medal, Good Conduct Medal.
The accomplishments of Master Sergeant Bargas culminated a
distinguished career.
Joseph loved reading, traveling and was an avid bowler. He was a fixture
at Andrews AFB participating in many leagues. He also participated in the
Maryland Senior Olympics later in life. His legacy of quick wit, a big heart
and sense of humor is evident in this huge family filled with tons of
laughter and passion.
The family will be receiving guests at Witzkies Funeral Home at 5555 Twin
Knolls Rd, Columbia, MD 21045 at 2:00pm on Tuesday October 30, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or the Maryland Senior Olympics.
