God Bless You, Peter!  And may you arrive in Heven with a pint in ya hand and you be working on a 2nd by the time the devil discovers ya gone. He was a  casual friend & frequent fellow patron of the Pub where we met.  I also knew his wife Karen before they married.

I just heard the news about Peter and  was truly saddened to hear of his passing.  Peter and I lifted a pint or two back in The Pub days in Wilde Lake.  I traveled along on some of his gigs, and sometimes picked a tune or two with him.  He was an incredibly talented musician with a sharp wit and kept listeners entranced.  Sadly, I moved from Columbia and very seldom saw Peter afterwards. He is gone, but not forgotten.

I will miss you more than you will ever know and I'm hoping your light of inspiration will always be beside me and you know that I will always love you!

I didn't know Peter in person. I only knew his songs, taught to me by people who did know him. He was a genius, and his torch will be carried by many. Including me.

Peter is one of the two people who pushed me to pick up the guitar and just play.  Every song I sing, or play will always keep him close in mind and heart.  He will be sorely missed.

Pete was a unique,and wise sole and will never be forgotten. Keep hitting them straight, my friend.

Peter was my friend, my mentor and my muse.
His influence is woven through my music, his fingerprints on all my songs.
Today I drink coffee, play music and cry,
Even in humorous songs about books and coffee,
When I reach the parts where he taught me to tweak the lyrics and adjust the melodies.

Peter was a man who always made one feel welcome, and truely appreciated, which only made everyone he touched cherrish him even more. I will indeed miss Peter and feel his loss. Karen, if we can do anything, please do not hesitate to call.

Peter will be missed by many.   His wit always brought a smile to my face.  I so enjoyed reading his emails filled with humor.  I will miss seeing him at his dental visits. My condolences and may God bless you and his love carry you through this difficult time Karen.

Peter's gift to me was the ability to laugh at times of adversity.  As with so many others sharing the grief of losing such a talented and unique person, he was mentor, friend and champion.  I am so grateful to have known him and so sad that he is gone.

Peter was the only man I ever knew in my life who actually encouraged me to sing, and he taught me such songs as I'd never heard of before. He didn't care that I couldn't carry a tune, but stressed it was more important to join in the singing. To this day, when I go out with work friends or other friends to an Irish pub or similar place, and the folk songs are playing, my friends are amazed that I know every word to every song. I tell them that Peter taught me well. "The wonderful thing about folk music," Peter taught me, "is that no one even cares if you sing off-key...they won't notice." He was right. 
More than that, he and I (by the grace of God) were blessed with our wonderful son, Joseph Christopher Benson, of whom we are all four (me, Peter, Karen, and Jon) so very proud. 
Words cannot express the gratitude and the love I have for these two very important gifts Peter shared with me (and the world), or for the sorrow we are all feeling now. My heart goes out to you, Karen, and to Joe, and to all of us. I am so grateful that we have his songs recorded on CD's. Peter has his voice back in full strength now and is singing in heaven, and his voice will sing forever in our hearts.
