Dear Katrina,

Maureen and I were shocked and saddened to learn of Bob's passing. We have many fond memories of our time together during graduate school, and it was always a pleasure to catch up with Bob when we bumped into each other professionally.

Our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Squire Brown. He was a great person and I will miss both him and his fantastic sense of humor.

I'm so sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  He was a wonderful coworker that I looked up to and admired.  I didn't get to see him much over the last couple of years at work but always delighted in the rare hallway meeting with him.  Though I'm a terrible card player, it was always worth joining a game with him for the company alone.  I'll really miss "Mr. Sneaky McPhee."

Katrina, Bob was a great coworker and friend.  He was someone I always enjoyed talking to. I will really miss his presence is the office, especially his sense of humor and wisdom.

Our sincerest condolences, Katrina. Bob was a great friend and colleague with unequaled talent and motivation. But his friendliness and sense of humor made bring around him a pleasure. The world for me has dimmed and I will miss him.

There are few people with whom I could discuss the subtleties of probability.  I'll miss that.

Squire Brown touched and enriched our lives, and our whole family will miss him very much.  It is truly remarkable how quickly his picaresque antics became legend around our household.  Katrina, you have our deepest sympathy and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Katrina,

My heartfelt condolences to you along with prayers that seek to bestow peace of inner silence. I do realize too well how hard this is for you from my own fairly recent personal loss. 

Please know that in my view your husband was an extraordinary human being who was gentle as a person, smart and thorough in his approach as a scientist, cooperative as a colleague, and a good friend in his actions individually and collectively to us at APL. Above all, he carried a great humor and fun spirit with him that he delightfully shared every single time to give us fond memories of all our time spent with him. Bob is already being missed around the workplace and will continue to be - as it is hard to believe he has gone so suddenly. I will always remember the gift of association with Bob and his technical contributions as well as lessons that were jointly learned in what we continue to do at APL.  

Time is the best healer and I know you will take courage in all that Bob has stood for in facing life and its challenges to the very end in an undaunted manner. He has after all fully merged in you in love for your life.

I worked with Bob while I was at APL.  He always provided thoughtful, thorough technical feedback and he did so with a wonderful sense of humor.  Bob never failed to brighten my day and I'm very sad to hear of his passing.  I have many fond memories of Bob.
