Veronica W. Peacock died peacefully in her sleep on May 22, 2020 in Riderwood Village at the age of 85. “Ronnie” as she was known by family and friends, was born in Liverpool, England, March 14, 1935 to Vera and Edward Lawson. Having survived the loss of her mother at the age of 4, the “Blitz” of Liverpool by the Germans in World War II, and the loss of her father in the sinking of his merchant vessel by German U Boats she was able to survive the war’s wrath and grow into adulthood thanks to the love and support of her stepmother Catherine McNeal.
Ronnie came to the United States in 1959 at the age of 24 to marry William M. Peacock, Jr. (Bill). They would remain husband and wife for 60 years until he passed away in October of 2019. Together they lived in Kingston, New York; Biloxi, Mississippi; Lompoc, California; and Laurel, Maryland. Ronnie is survived by her two sons; Bill Peacock of Hudson, OH; and John Peacock of Silver Spring, MD and their wives, Tonia and Lisa, and six Grandchildren.
Ronnie loved tennis, gardening, and updating her home on Briardale Lane in Laurel, MD. She was an avid reader. She especially loved her five grandchildren, William, Aaron, Jennifer, Lauren, Daniel, and Joseph. We miss her dearly and know she is safe in heaven with her husband Bill.
In view of the pandemic, a funeral will not be held. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to Keep Memory Alive in Veronica Peacock’s name at https://www.keepmemoryalive.org/
