Charles Thomas Hargrove

On March 29th at 6:00pm Mr. Charles (“Charlie”) Thomas Hargrove rejoined some great friends and loved ones. He was surrounded by his wife, Marilyn and sons, Travis and Jordon as he peacefully passed in Columbia, Missouri.

Charlie was born in Malvern, Arkansas on October 24th, 1942, to Louis and Mary Sue Hargrove.

Charlie spent 34 years with the city of Columbia, serving as the Assistant City Manager for the vast majority of his career. He also volunteered with the Boone County Historical Society and the Cosmo luncheon club through his life.

Charlie was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Sue, and Father, Louis Hargrove of Columbia, His second wife Sue Hargrove, and his brother Bill Hargrove of Boise, Idaho.

Charlie is survived by his wife Marilyn Sanford-Hargrove, two sons and wives Travis and Jessica Hargrove, and Jordon and Jennifer Hargrove, grandchildren Brooke and Christopher Hargrove, his sister Eva and her husband Dwight Fine of Jefferson City, and former wife Vickie Williamson. He is also survived by his stepchildren Scott Green of Portland Oregon, Matt Sanford of Columbia, and Mindy Robbins of West Palm Beach, Florida and numerous other extended family members.

Flowers are welcomed, but a donation to the Boone County Historical Society is also suggested.

Dad, we love you and miss you so much already. We will continue to do our best to grow in your colossal image. We will be fair, kind, a little ornery, the life of the party, and the loving hand on the shoulder. You will forever be the finest man we ever knew. Now you, Bill, Mike Don, and Joe go finish a bottle of Wild Turkey and we will see you again. Love, your sons.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8th at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W, Columbia, MO 65202 from 1:00 pm till time of the graveside service at 3:00 pm.
