David George Retzloff

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

On February 19, 1939, David was born to the late John J. Retzloff and the late Georgea R. Hook in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was united in marriage to Betty (Burks) Retzoff on May 5th, 2001, in Branson, Missouri.

David spent his childhood in Middleton, Pennsylvania and served in the US Airforce during the Korean War He earn his bachelors, masters, and PHD at the University of Pittsburg School of Chemical and Biological Engineering. In the late 70’s, David moved to Columbia to work at the University of Missouri to teach Chemical Engineering. He was a dedicated educator and scholar. David enjoyed solving elaborate equations and playing racquetball in his spare time.

His presence will be profoundly missed by his wife, Betty; children, Michelle Johnson (Eric) of Bloomington, IL, Jahia Murphy of Columbia, MO, and Lauren Retzloff (Ragelio) of Columbia, MO; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Gavin, Arabella Johnson and Madelyn, Emma, Lauren, Elizabeth, Maximiliano, and Valentino; as well as nieces and nephews and a loving extended family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, John Nicholas Retzloff and nephew, Brian Retzloff.

Memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
