Eddie Jean Burks, 93, a lifelong resident of Columbia, MO passed away, Thursday April 16, 2026, in Columbia. Visitation will be on Friday, April 24 from 10-11am at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Funeral service will begin at 11am, followed by burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Eddie was born in Columbia, MO on November 15, 1932, the daughter of Ed and Doris Davis. She was a 1949 graduate of Hickman High and married Shirley Sam Burks on August 26th that same year. For several years she did clerical work for the Wilson Meat Market and later for Stephens College. She and Sam enjoyed square dancing and trout fishing at Bennett Springs. She was a skilled crafter and enjoyed sewing. She also loved to play BINGO.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Norman) Tjhang of Columbia, Paula Blount of Sturgeon, and Phyllis (Scott) Smith of Lee’s Summit; grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Brad (Tana) Hagen, Emily (Heitor) deMelo, and Evan Smith; eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Davis of Ashland, many nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Sam Burks, her siblings, Tutor, Georgia, and Lena, her parents and her beloved dog, Jack.
