Gary M. Strauss

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m., Sunday September 20, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, with service to follow at 3:00 p.m.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Shirley Rose Strauss Czarnecki . Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Rebecca Strauss, his step-son Dennis Payne and wife Lindsey, and two grandchildren Dennis K. Payne III, and Freddie L. Payne, all of Columbia, Kathy Marie Strauss Mumford (Tim), Gayle Lynn Czarnecki Hurley (Jim), Kenneth Peter Czarnecki (Judi), Kevin Ray Czarnecki (Sally), Nanci Lee Czarnecki.

Gary was born January 8, 1948, and later joined the US Air Force, doing 3 tours in Vietnam.

Gary was a life-time member of the VFW post 4477 in Texas and was a Past Supreme Commander for the Military Order of the Cootie. He enjoyed collecting model cars, coins and vacationing in Hawaii with his wife and sister Kathy. He greatly enjoyed time with his grandchildren and beloved dog Ammie. Gary spent time at the VFW National Home for Children in Michigan earning funds to provide motor vehicles so they could transport children to and from activities.
