Gerald was born February 1, 1944 in Union City, TN to William and Geraldine Jackson. He grew up in Hannibal, MO before moving to Columbia. He joined the US Army in July 1968, and served in Turkey servicing telephones and electronics. He was honorably discharged from service on February 4, 1971. Gerald married Carol Noah in November of 75, and they were together for 48 years until her passing. Gerald applied his technical training from the Army and worked locally for D&M Sound, Johnston Audio, and Cleeks as a repairman. Later he worked for LeFebure servicing banking equipment. He continued to work well after his retirement, and only stopped when his health required it. He was a very talented repairman and could fix anything that needed it. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed snacking, watching television with his wife, and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Jackson of Moberly and Barb Tritschler of Kansas City; a son, Billy McDow of Columbia; sisters Cindy Jackson and Patty Simmons; grandchildren, Brittany McCormack, Jordan & Hailey McDow, Josh Jackson, and Tyler Sterne; great-grandson, Roman Jackson; nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife; Carol Sue Jackson on December 25, 2022; and his parents.
