Harold Edward Sims

Harold E. Sims, 84, of Columbia, MO passed away Friday, August 20, 2021. A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:00 am, both at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia.

Harold was born August 16, 1937 in Hartsburg to Paul H. and Frona V. Wells Sims. On June 28, 1968 he married Fern Nichols in Midway. For 35 years he worked for the University of Missouri Power Plant where he retired as Assistant Superintendent. He was an active member at Wilkes Boulevard Methodist Church, where he held several roles, as well as the Columbia Senior Center where he had served as President. He enjoyed playing time at casinos, watching Cardinals baseball, and a good golf match. He loved spending time with his family during family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; sister, Linda (Dan) Hankins; daughter, Eileen (Ken) Edmunds; grandchildren, Jennifer and Alex; step-daughters, Debbie (Jim) Obley and Cynthia Loyd; step-grandchildren, Justin Duve, Tim (Whitney) Duve, and Travis Loyd; and a step great-granddaughter, Zoe Alexandra Duve. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Jr. and Ben; and a sister, Ethel.
